Like everyone else, the world over, at this time, we are in lockdown, with myself being very wary due to severe chest problems putting me in the " at risk " category.
I never thought of being categorised like this during the make up years that caused this problem, but then who really does. The teenage years, during the sixties, were all about experimentation with all sorts of things and seeing how far you could push your parents, who had all come from a different planet to the one you were enjoying.
I was into my twenties when Jacky and I met. It was at a pub in Hitchin, The Red Hart. I've lost count of how many people have told me they met their spouse at The Red Hart.
The first time we met, I bought her a drink and she buggered off ! It was in another pub when I saw her again, this time with another chap. I used a go between, like my father before me, to entice this beautiful being to go out on a date with me. Took a bit of what is now called networking to finally get her on my own. The rest, as they say, is now part of history.

We married in 1975 at Hitchin Catholic Church, the old one, not that swish modern one they have today. Kelly born in 1977 followed by Daniel in 1983. Great kids, who gave us lots of enjoyment and many grey hairs. Kelly moved to Australia with husband to be Rich Bull and they were married in Thailand at the turn of the Millenium. They then settled in Australia and have two wonderful boys.
Danny stayed in the UK, where he met Delia, beautiful girl who's half Russian from Kazan and a wedding soon followed in a beautiful setting in the Lake District. They have a wonderful boy, sadly his little sister didn't survive the birth. A terrible time for the parents and our family.

We were stepping up the house ownership ladder, as you do, when, after four houses I had enough of the UK and fancied somewhere on the island of Crete. We had been having a taste of the Apokoronas area of Crete while visiting our ex neighbours Colin and Nicola who had moved out to Crete. After five years of visiting we decided that we would make the move to Crete, but only for five years.
We stayed nine then sold our villa and decided to move back to the UK. What an impossible task to find somewhere as good in the UK. Fabulous weather and by the sea. We nearly settled on Dorset but we also nearly got ripped off by unscrupulous sellers. We stayed on Crete !
We had rented at Douliana Villas in the beautiful village of Douliana while looking for a place in the UK, but instead bought another house in Kambia, the village where we had our first house. As I'm writing this, we are in the process of moving, no easy task during lockdown.

We have now settled into our new home and we love it ! Stunning views across the valley to the White Mountains. We have really good neighbours all around us, two Greek and nearest neighbours are English. It's real countryside and the birdsong and buzz from the bees is fantastic. Unfortunately at present the cicadas are drowning everything out.
